Laughter yoga is a unique exercise developed by the Indian physician Dr. Madan Kataria. It combines laughter exercises with yoga breathing exercises (pranayama) – this gives the body and the brain more oxygen, which leads to the feeling of being more energetic and healthier. Everyone can laugh without the need for humor, jokes or comedy. Laughter is initially simulated as a physical exercise while maintaining eye contact with others in the group and promoting childlike playfulness. In most cases this soon leads to real and contagious laughter. This is based on the fact that the body does not differentiate between fake and real laughter.
Everyone knows that laughter is the best medicine and that it is good for our health. unfortunately, in today’s modern world, which is dominated by constant pressure and tension, there are only a few reasons or no reasons to make us laugh.
To achieve the positive effects of laughter, you should laugh 10-15 minutes and this laughter should be deep and hearty belly laughter. This is not possible in normal life, because natural laughter is attached to conditions and lasts only a few seconds. Through laughter yoga, one can laugh for a long time, as it is practised as a physical (and not as a mental) exercise.
